We spent a couple of days at the Rutledge Lake RV resort in Fletcher, North Carolina (Location Review here) at the end of our stay after competing in a Dog Agility event that weekend. A friend of ours at the event mentioned that we could fit in there and it was memorial day weekend so there were not a lot of other choices in the area. The campground worked but was a little tight and was booked solid. There was about 50/50 permanent residences at the park and 50% weekend campers. Overall a fine place to stay but nothing to write home about.

Lake Rutledge RV Resort – Video Review
Site quality = 3/5
This is park is quite tight (But manageable for a big Rig). You will need to make sure that you end up in the right spot. All roads in the park and out of the park are gravel as well as Pull-Through spot’s we were in.
Solid 50 Amp power with good water pressure but the WIFI did not work at all. Secret – go sit on the front deck at the office and use the “Linksys” wifi zone and it works fine.
The best spots in the park are
- Spots 4-11 – These are right on the lake and have really great views
- Spot 13 Easy pull through spot
- Spot 18 – Easy pull through spot (But you will have to back up to get out
- Spot 33, 46, 53, 365, – Pull through spots in the back of the campground.
You may be able to fit in other spots in the campground but we did not verify any of those.
Facilities = 3/5
This is a very small park that is overall pretty nice but again a little tight. The park has a beautiful little pond with a small white sand beach that people seemed to enjoy using to fish and play around on. There is a very small pool that we saw kids enjoying and there are some small walking trails. Did not get a chance to look at the showers/restrooms while we were there.
We met a lot of very, very nice people here and never felt uncomfortable at the park. Just not a lot of room in your spot and the park is quite tight. It also looked like they are doing construction to take away even more green space and put in more spots at the park
Location = 4/5
For Exploring the Fletcher, North Carolina and surrounding area this park is centrally located. See our Location review of Fletcher, NC here. If the purpose of coming to this area is to explore Asheville, NC it is about 10 miles away. Still workable but there are a couple parks closer.
Pet friendliness = 3.5/5
We did not see a dog park at the resort but overall the resort was quite dog friendly. They had not problem with us having 3 dogs (They did ask) and there was some nice areas to go walking around the park as well as outside the resort. We as well as most of the other campers had dogs and the owners of the park were lax on the leash rule. Never felt uncomfortable with other peoples dogs or our ability to take them wherever we wanted to.
Overall rating = 3.5/5
BONUS ALERT = Nice small park with cute pond
Okay little park centrally located in Fletcher, NC. We really enjoyed Fletcher – see our location review here. If we were at another dog show in Fletcher we would probably stay here again. If we were more focused on Asheville, we may chose to check out other parks available as an option. The price was a little steep for the value.
