After spending time at Sun n Fun RV Resort in Sarasota, FL we decided to move north to go visit some friends up in Gainesville, FL. We normally stay at Williston RV park but alas it was sold out. We have stayed at Williston several times in the past and have really enjoyed it. But we found a new little Gem – Grand Lake.
Grand Lake is very nice resort. For those looking for a large open and expansive RV resort. This is the place, Tons of open space, nice large lots, Golf Course, nice pool, big lake etc. The feel of this park would be ‘The Quiet Lazy Place”. Not a lot around the resort.
We really, really enjoyed it for 3 days, but might find it a little slow for our taste longer than 1 week or so. The people staying there simply love it and I understand why.

Site quality = 4.0/5
Every site that we saw at Grand Lake Golf and RV Resort was Big Rig capable and the roads were adequate for making the turns. The sites are really two different types
We stayed in a grass site. The benefits are that they are big and open and with good weather they are really nice. In fact I think we preferred being there. The negative is that they are not completely level. For the big rigs this can be an issue. I would probably go for the grass but check the site before i locked in
The Paved site looked very nice, long and many of them pull through sites. They have more space that most parks but not as much as the grass sites. You will feel like you are more at a normal park than in the country.
Amenities = 4/5
We were in town to visit friends so we did not get a chance to use many of the facilities but we did take a look around. Some of the nice parts about the place include:
Location = 2/5
Grand Lake RV Resort is located about 3 miles off the Highway and around 20+ minutes from Gainesville, FL. There is not a lot to do outside the park without a good drive. So if you are looking for a quiet place to go – this is it. If you need a stopping spot when heading north/south this is also a good option.
Overall rating = 4.0
BONUS ALERT = Large Open Quiet park out in the country

Extra Info:
Even though we were only there for 2 days. We did find 1 gem of a restaurant and 1 good restaurant.
Eagles Nest Cafe – Eagles nest is the local restaurant onsite. They serve breakfast, lunch and Dinner. We went there for Breakfast and it was good. We reviewed the menu and the prices were very good and the restaurant is right on the water.
Antonio’s – A Surpising gem of an Italian restaurant right out in the country. We went here for lunch and had some awesome sandwiches (Italian Meatball Panini and homemade Muffletta. Both excellent sandwiches. We also got dinner to go – Eggplant Parmigon. It was to die for. Cure quaint location and great food just minutes from Grand lake.
